Dust caps are for use with our speaker repair kits. Generally you don't need to replace the dust cap when you repair a speaker unless the dust cap is damaged.

I have an old 60's Sears 40XL tube amp and the stock speaker is a 4 ohm Fisher 12 inch.  Known to be a dark speaker in those amps, someone in the past had removed the felt cap, I guess to try to brighten it up.  With the coil open and exposed I ordered a paper cap to cover it and it did the trick making it a brighter and more open, great sounding amp now.
