4 of 5 Perfect replacement June 28, 2017

I have re-coned several speakers before and I agree with your instructions that removing the dust cap and using shims is generally unnecessary. I had two minor problems: Initially I had difficulty getting the foam to stay attached to the cone - the glue has almost no 'tack'. Your suggestion of crushed paper under the cone to raise it helped as did weights, but is was more difficult than I have experienced in the past with glues that seemed to 'grab' quicker. I had to press the foam against the cone with my fingers many times as the glue slowly set. A similar problem when attaching foam to frame was solved by a couple dozen clothes pins. The foam seems of good quality and my speakers sound great again. They are in an open baffle with 6 db/octave equalization so they have quite an excursion even at normal listening levels. The large roll works perfectly.

5 of 5 Easy repair February 9, 2017

Made exact measurements to order the 12-inch surround kit for my 47-year-old McIntosh ML-1 speaker, and it fit perfectly.  Good instructions; the project just takes a little patience, to clean up the cone and mounting rim.  Looks like new now, sounds great.

5 of 5 Greatful for the good sounds again December 7, 2015

Good product. My 20 year old woofers are as new again, except I was a little messy with the glue. I would have provided pictures, but must admit, while totally happy with the results, it could have come out a little neater. Don't really care so much. I'm happy to have my music back!!

The kit surround was a perfect fit to the original and had no problems installing. I have another pair of the same 12" woofer and will re-foam them with the same kit.

I didn't know the correct repair kit, but with one E-mail the people at speaker works suggested the correct kit. The kit was easy to install, and I now have my speaker working like it did when new.

5 of 5 Just Like Original, great product. August 29, 2014

I recently repaired my 12" Velodyne subwoofer cone surround which had delaminated from the cone and had several tears.  Your recommended surround fit perfectly and installed well with the provided glue per included instructions.  I did vary a bit in my installation.  After gluing the surround to the cone, I determined the position where the cone did not rub by slightly puooing and holding the surround at the edge to the speaker basket. Once I found the optimum 'no rub' location, I clipped the surround with two clothespins to the basket.  Then I glued the surround to the basket in two steps. First the greater 'unclipped' area, then when that was set, I finished the area where the clothespins were. This assured me that the surround and cone would not move out of place.  Speaker works great, like-new again.
