Trev and Carol of SpeakerWorks Were A Great Help |

I own a pair of Acoustic Energy AE-1 Speakers that were purchased 20+ years ago. The surrounds had disintegrated over time. Carol and Trev were able to find a compatible foam surround that met my needs.
I've never repaired speakers like this before. The kit came with instructions, 2 foam surrounds, glue, and 2 fiber qtip type applicators. My only suggestion is that they include 2 fiber qtips for each surround sold - since gluing of the foam to the cone is done separately from gluing the surround to the speaker frame.
I did a good, but hardly perfect job. I had a tough time removing excess glue from the cone - but that was my fault; not speakerworks. Plus, a helpful hint is to make sure the glue is allowed to get tacky bore attaching to cone. That time will depend on how much glue you used, temperature and humidity. For my job, about 5-6 minutes.
At the end of the day, my speakers sound like new again. I can't hear any acoustic problems from my amateur repair job.
